The action of exploiting the substitution area in futsal is a useful tool to surprise the opposition team, overcome pressing  and create a superiority that permits a possible completion. It is commonly known as the ?gypsy?.

The substitution area is a space measuring  5 meters where the players can come on and go off the pitch at any point of space within those 5 meters. It is located on the longitudinal line, between 10 and 15 meters in each direction of the attack and on the same side.
