Six out of eight possible titles; the last four titles, all won in a row. That is the overwhelming statistic of the Spanish team in the tournament organized by the UEFA since 1996, where our boys only know the path that leads to the podium.

The men led by José Venancio López arrived in Croatia as favourites to defend their European hegemony, and after an impeccable track record during the two weeks of finals, they left having proven that their superiority goes far beyond the game itself. During the decisive moments, it was their tolerance for suffering or even their faith that led these unforgettable, hardwired champions to victory.

Since the first edition, held in Córdoba, the mythic Paulo Roberto and Vicente Martínez carried the group brought together by Javier Lozano to glory, Spain has hardy missed competing in the finals, only in 2003; and of the other seven, they have only lost one, in 1999.
