Athletes and coaches know that optimism is far more useful than pessimism; it helps them feel more confident in their capabilities and it motivates. This is a matter of common sense, and yet many are unaware of how it works and how to stay positive despite problems.

In this article, we address optimism as a essential quality to success in sports. It is necessary for increasing the probability that things will improve in the future, whether or not things go well or badly, and to anticipate future adversities and deal with them effectively. It increases the player's performance and enhances the coach's leadership
