As a manager, Ancelotti made his debut in 1995 with AC Reggiana 1919, and the team ascended to the A Series. In 1996 he became manager for Parma FC, the club where he began his career as a player, before becoming the manager of Juventus.

After two years without positive results for that teams, he was signed in 2001 by the powerful AC Milan, replacing Fatih Terim as the club’s manager. With Ancelotti as the manager, and players like Andriy Shevchenko, Manuel Rui Costa, and Paolo Maldini, the team won the UEFA Champions League in 2003, after defeating Juventus on penalty shots.

He won the Scudetto the following year (2004), and in 2005 he saw the European championship title fade away when Liverpool FC defeated Milan on penalty shots, after a 3-0 advantage for the Italian team. The rematch occurred in 2007, in another Champions League final, and this time Milan defeated Liverpool 2-1. This was Ancelotti’s second European championship title.
